Characteristics and Application Guidelines of PP Board (Polypropylene Board) for Mist Eliminator

Mist remover (also known as "fog catcher" or "gas-liquid separator") is mainly used to remove liquid droplets (such as water mist, acid mist, oil mist, etc.) from industrial waste gas, flue gas or compressed air. PP (polypropylene) has become one of the ideal materials for the core components of defoggers due to its excellent corrosion resistance and lightweight properties.

2. Core characteristics of PP board for defogger
(1) Chemical corrosion resistance
-Resistant to acid, alkali, salt spray (such as H ₂ SO ₄, HCl, NaOH, etc.), suitable for chemical, electroplating, and flue gas treatment industries.   
-The stability of organic solvents (such as benzene and alcohols) is better than that of ordinary plastics.   

(2) Low surface energy&hydrophobicity
PP surface is hydrophobic and droplets are not easily attached, which can improve the efficiency of defogging.   
-Reduce scaling and lower maintenance frequency.   

(3) Mechanical strength and temperature resistance
-Working temperature: -10 ℃~+80 ℃ (can withstand up to 100 ℃ in the short term).   
-Impact resistance: Modified PP (such as PP+GF) can enhance rigidity and is suitable for high-speed airflow environments.   

(4) Lightweight and easy to process
-Low density (0.9g/cm ³), lighter than metals (such as 316 stainless steel), reduces equipment load.   
-CNC cutting, hot bending, and welding are available for customizing complex structured defogging blades.   

4. Applicable industry cases
Chemical industry: tail gas treatment of chlor alkali plants and sulfuric acid plants.   
Power industry: Mist removal after wet flue gas desulfurization (WFGD) in coal-fired power plants.   
Battery manufacturing: Acid mist recycling in lithium battery workshop.   
Shipbuilding industry: Ship Exhaust Gas Scrubbing System (EGC).

-Prioritize the selection of raw material PP board suppliers to avoid the impact of mixed materials on performance.   
-Request to provide a corrosion resistance test report (such as ASTM D543).
