Performance and Application of Ultra Thick PP Board

Ultra thick PP board (polypropylene sheet, usually ≥ 20mm in thickness, up to 100mm or more) is widely used in fields such as chemical engineering, environmental protection, and industrial equipment due to its excellent chemical resistance, high strength, and ease of processing. The following are its key performance and typical applications.

1. Physical and mechanical properties

-High strength: Ultra thick PP board (especially homopolymer PP) has high rigidity and impact resistance, and a thickness of over 50mm can withstand large loads.

-Wear resistance: superior to PE, suitable for mechanical protection, wear-resistant lining plates and other scenarios.

-Lightweight: Low density (0.91-0.94 g/cm ³), lighter than metal, easy to install.

2. Chemical resistance

-Acid and alkali corrosion resistance: can withstand most inorganic acids (such as hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid), alkalis (such as sodium hydroxide), and some organic solvents.

-Not applicable scenarios: Not resistant to strong oxidizing acids (such as concentrated nitric acid, chromic acid) and aromatic hydrocarbons (such as benzene, toluene).

3. Thermal performance

-Temperature resistance range: -10 ℃~+100 ℃ (short-term up to 120 ℃).

-Hot deformation temperature (0.45MPa): about 110 ℃, higher than PE, suitable for higher temperature environments.

4. Electrical insulation

-High resistivity, suitable for electrical insulation components.

5. Processing performance

-Weldable: using hot air welding or extrusion welding (suitable for ultra thick plates).

-Can cut/drill: CNC, circular saw or laser cutting (parameters need to be adjusted).

-Thermoformable: can be bent when heated to 150-160 ℃.

6. Environmental friendliness

-Recyclable, some food grade PP meets FDA standards.
